John Fallon, I think you're a FUCKING DISGRACE. Other members of the University as a whole are saying nothing about your GUTLESS Larry King Live appearance last night so they can move on so, by proxy, let me tell you what we're all thinking.

Do your only 'heartfelt' comments on this case come though an attorney or with one by your side on the TeeVee? There you sat, crying like a bitch on CNN talking about how you are a real victim here. NO, you're NOT, Laura Dickinson was the victim. You are a horses ass. The very fact you wanna carry this out further and expose the EMU community to MORE of this case tells me you didn't really care about EMU, you cared about John Fallon.

If you didn't get the info it's because YOU didn't ask. YOU were the University President. You OWNED to chain of command. You failed to exercise it. The reports said you knew more than you're letting on, are they lying too?

John Fallon you are a WEAK little man. It sure seems ALL you've EVER cared about was the fallout John Fallon faced. You've pointed fingers, you've hidden behind attorneys, you've said everyone else BUT YOU is guilty.

What if this blog ever BROKE a story....like now...

Well, it's not so much a story (though I'm sure to the woman involved it's a BAD story) as the unearthing of information in the John Norman Collins case from oh so long ago. Last week I let you in on some info the Ann Arbor Police Department was holding back and some that had leaked out (see the comments section in the post before this one) ever so slowly. However this information is unknown even to them, the Michigan State Police, the Ypsilanti Police and the Department of Public Safety at EMU. Now YOU get to read the world exclusive (where's my Matt Drudge flashing light when I need it?).

In the summer if 1967 John Norman Collins was stalking and chatting up women. Yes I know that's not news. But what if I told you he had a fixation on an African American woman, so much so that she fled without a word to anyone, back to her home in Detroit. Now you get it. John Norman Collins only KILLED petite, brunette females (Alice Kalom was a little bigger than the others but not by that much and Roxie Phillips in California was blonde). No, the summer of 1967 saw Mr. Collins forming an attraction to a black female, who was a co-lead singer in a band, with dreadlocks down the middle of her back and she was a broad shouldered tough as nails Detroit raised, street smart gal. Collins was in the habit of showing up to the bands shows (a minor local band, nobody of note) and waiting until the show was over for some direct face time with the female singer. One of the other band members specifically remembers Collins showing up to the shows and he spoke with him only in passing, it was the lead female singer he had his eye on. He could tell Collins made her a tad uneasy the more he'd show up. The pattern always repeated itself, he'd show up, wait until after the show and make sure he got a chance to be alone with the singer (whose name I'm not releasing currently). One day, she vanished. No trace, simply vanished. Her bandmates weren't told, nobody was told. She simply went missing. One of these bandmates (and the one who first told me this story) bumped into her about four or five years later at a concert and asked her what the hell had happened, why she'd up and vanished. "It was HIM" she told my wide eyed contact, "it was HIM". She relayed that indeed, Collins HAD been stalking her, and in her eyes making some very uncomfortable moves on her. She had simply vanished to be rid of him. She didn't tell anyone because she was VERY fearful of him finding her. She also mentioned that when she began seeing HIS face on TV a couple years later as a suspected serial killer, she REALLY freaked out.

This would have been either RIGHT after or RIGHT before the death of Mary Fleszar, Collins supposed first victim. My HUNCH would be right before as after murdering Fleszar he waited almost another year before killing again.

First off, I think the fact this woman was so street smart at the time may well have saved her life. I can't say for CERTAIN it did, but knowing what we know NOW it would appear it sure helped.

This also now begs the question maybe Collins sought different types of women for his debauchery, maybe he felt he needed smaller women who wouldn't or couldn't offer heavy resistance (this woman, trust me would have offered a lot of resistance) when he attacked them. Maybe this rejection or perceived rejection sent him over the edge the first time.

There you have it, make of it what you will but Collins WAS stalking an African American female in the summer of 1967,

OK, so I guess the last few weeks has left me with one MORE Ypsi-centric post in me. Not so much to rehash the problems EMU just went through but simply to ease back into affairs of far away towns I know little about.

This whole affair of the last few weeks caused me to break down and repurchase the 'Michigan Murders' book. It's the most seminal book in my life over why I am the way I am about all things crime. I remember the night I read it, I lived at 505 Emmet and my girlfriend and I read it together all in one night we were so enthralled. Enthralled until we found out John Norman Collins used to live at 619 Emmet, almost visible up the street from my home. Then the creeps started setting in. WOW, what a read, living where we did.

I question now, in this new age of criminal rights and courts so careful to enforce them if John Norman Collins would have been convicted today in the Karen Sue Bieneman case. Would Sheriff Doug Harvey's witness tampering have cost William Delhey the same case today? Would the hair in Ms. Bieneman's underwear have been sufficient for the current DNA testing standards? Would police have come forward with the OTHER clues they had that they never let the public know about? With the 'CSI Effect' prosecutors readily complain about now that if a jury doesn't see DNA or the crime lab dog and pony show they don't possibly feel a conviction is warranted, would Collins have had to have been tried in the Alice Kalom case because a couple blood spots matching her type were found in Collins' car? The red strip of cloth? Whom would they have matched THAT to. Would they simply have deferred to California authorities who have a very strong case against Collins in the Roxie Phillips murder? Why DON'T they run the blood from the Kalom case? Why not run ALL the DNA in these cases? If you think it can't help tell that to Gary Leiterman. It can and SHOULD be put through a discovery process. Laura Dickinson's killer was proved by DNA. Laura McBride's killer was found through DNA. Karen Sue Bieneman's case was 'proved' through antiquated DNA testing, and Jane Mixer's killer, Gary Leiterman was found from DNA. See a trend?

I like to fish the Huron River from time to time, a few hundered yards from Peninsular Park to be exact. As darkness sets in around me on warm summer nights, I can't help but think of where I am. I can see Hill Hall where Laura Dickinson was killed, I'm very very near Peninsular Park where Laura McBride was murdered, I can see the VERY train tracks young Dawn Basom disappeared from. I wonder, is it YPSI? Does this town have some strange hold over the nere-do-wells and ghouls who live or visit Ypsilanti? Is ANY town, no matter how small free of such skeletons? Does every town have some kind of story, some nightmare to tell? Is Ypsi just like them? Are they just like Ypsi?

Statement from EMU student government

Today marks an important day for the future of Eastern Michigan University. The EMU community is now at a crossroads. We have the option of continuing upon the path that we have followed in recent history, or we can choose to embark upon a new path that will lead us in a different direction. Today, we must choose a new direction.

Eastern Michigan now has the opportunity to move forward. No longer must we be the target of criticism. Now, we have the opportunity for our advancements to be praised. The benefit of the recent national exposition of EMU's shortcomings is that we can no longer hide from the issues that prevent us from excelling to our full potential. We, as a community, must now work diligently toward recognizing and resolving those issues.

No longer must we fail to communicate. Defective communication has been a plague on Eastern Michigan University for far too long. Now we have the opportunity to reexamine and rehabilitate this process. Effective communication between the faculty, administration, and student body must now begin to take place. We must actively pursue this goal, in the spirit of progress. To begin, there has been a deficiency of student representation at the University level that has interfered with effective communication. It is necessary to ensure that a student representative is designated for the University Budget Committee and the Strategic Operations Council. These groups make important decisions that affect the student body, and in the future the student voice must be incorporated into their decision making process. Furthermore, the EMU administration must make a concerted effort to communicate with students through a strong presence on campus. This can be achieved through town hall meetings and open forums, individual interaction, and simply attending events hosted by student organizations. I am optimistic that all members of the EMU community will work together to solve the problems surrounding communication at Eastern Michigan University.

In addition, no longer must the safety of our campus community be called into question. The Department of Education's report about Eastern Michigan University's failure to adhere to the Clery Act has highlighted several deficiencies within our Department of Public Safety and its relationship with the University. We now have the opportunity to repair those deficiencies and strengthen the university police force. We should not attempt to bury the past from ourselves or the outside community. We must learn from our mistakes, solve our problems, and highlight our progress publicly. We now have the opportunity to become one of the safest universities in the nation, and we must pursue that goal with passion and optimism. Though our leadership is changing, we must agree as a campus community to adhere to a plan to revise the safety of Eastern's campus. I have full confidence that Provost Loppnow will continue to pursue the sixteen safety revisions outlined by Dr. Fallon until an interim president is appointed. Furthermore, I encourage that he and other campus leadership look beyond that outline and pursue further safety enhancement measures. A stronger security presence, better lighting, and enhanced emergency action and communication plans will help make EMU the safest it has ever been.

Finally, no longer must we be divided into factions. Today, we have the opportunity to stop resenting the faults of the past, and begin looking toward a positive future together. We must bridge the gaps that have formed between the faculty, administration, and student body. For too long, EMU has been divided. Now we must all work together for the education, safety, and well-being of the student body of Eastern Michigan University. I look forward to the progress that must be made to restore our reputation with optimism. Let today set us upon a new path that will lead EMU in a positive direction.

WHY they have to go

Someone emailed me about this and so I'm guessing there are more who haven't emailed me on this yet do wonder WHY I say Fallon, Vick and Hall have to resign/be fired.

I DO NOT enjoy getting my Eastern Michigan University news from the Los Angeles Times. I don't like reading about EMU in the New York Times. I don't like seeing EMU on MSNBC.

Not for the reasons we're discussing here. And since EMU isn't exactly a school that normally garners national media attention (sans a couple of REALLY COOL runs in the NCAA basketball tournament years ago) reading and watching EMU news has been painful. Think about it, HOW BAD must this have been to get the LA Times to write an article?

Another reason, and perhaps the greatest reason they all must go is for the future of the school. The reputation of Eastern Michigan University MUST be protected. I know I know, what reputation is left to protect? Kids aren't stupid. I would imagine 5 years from now a kid from Brighton will be deciding between EMU and Western Michigan or Central Michigan as a college of choice. When they Google EMU, GUESS what they'll see, sordid tales of a murder and a coverup. 95% of this entire story HAS BEEN THE COVERUP. While there is no excuse, some college campuses have murders. EMU has had a few, as has the University of Michigan, Michigan State, even Lehigh University, where the Clery Act originated have felt the pain of a campus murder. The coverup in EMU's case is what will hurt much longer than the immediate pain of Ms. Dickinson's death. The reputation going forward must be one of above the fray, always honest, and hard working to improve academics at EMU.

The future of EMU begins here, TODAY, RIGHT NOW. While the slate will not be wiped clean of this stain, the slate CAN be wiped clean of those involved. In time, this helps lessen the impact of what the slate still shows.

EMU is THE top teaching university around. Bar none. They have some pretty darned good other programs as well. As of TODAY these MUST be and HAVE to be the ONLY Priority of the new EMU President. Academics, Academics, Academics, say it like Steve Ballmer to IT 'Developers'.

EMU will rise from the ashes of Orange Taylor III's stupid, selfish, horrendous act. Many were scorched by it but it will not define EMU forever is my hope. That wonderful teaching college with a lot to offer other students in a friendly small time college atmosphere in a neat sleepy blue collar town is where EMU needs to get back to, and that journey begins anew, here today.

Cindy Hall is out as Director of Public Safety, and yet, EMU manages to screw THIS up too

OK, it would be a GOOD thing if DPS Director Cindy Hall were to resign. It would and apparently she has done the right thing. According to sources as well as the Ann Arbor News, Ms. Hall has cleaned out her office and stopped reporting to work. You'd THINK such a move would lead to an announcement from EMU as to exactly WHOM is now running DPS but as of this post, none was forthcoming. Sneak out, leave the announcement to others who don't make it. Classy.

From EMU via the Ann Arbor News:

Janice Stroh, EMU's vice president for business and finance, now oversees the Department of Public Safety, but said Tuesday that she can't discuss personnel matters.

So, accordng to EMU anyway nobody is running DPS currently. The A2 News calls the DPS office and finds:

A Department of Public Safety employee said Lt. Robert Heighes is acting director.

There you go, by the book, eh?

Now, back to Ms Hall. I'm not going to gloat, the memory of Laura Dickinson deserves far better. I will say this was the RIGHT thing to do and I do wish Ms. Hall well in her future endeavours. It is truly too bad this had to come to this but that road was paved months ago, in part by Ms Hall.

Regents meeting Monday to hopefully finish this mess once and for all.

That's how much Eastern Michigan University is facing in fines because of the the FAILURE of Cindy Hall, Jim Vick, and John Fallon to do the right thing. That's a pretty sizeable amount, almost a cool half mil. It could have been worse, MUCH worse as the three blind mice COULD HAVE faced a loss of student financial aid to EMU. While not LIKELY, it was (and is) a POSSIBILITY.

So, Cindy, Jim, John, you think you should keep your jobs after LYING, after obsfucating, after dodging your responsibilities while EMU looks around for an extra $412,500 (yes, it could be less, as much as say half less but that's still sizeable for a university with NO MONEY) to pay off YOUR stupidity? Know where I'd be at my company if I covered something up and the bill came due at $412,500? Out of a job where all three of YOU should be.

Wanna know what leadership looks like? I mean there has been a complete lack of leadership over this issue at EMU so when you see some, it deserves plaudits.

Well done, EMU STUDENT GOVERNMENT. You were worried the three blind mice could have cost students BIG TIME in financial aid monies so you banded together, and DID something positive about it. You worked hard to ensure EMU would NOT lose financial aid over this and it appears you have succeeded. WELL DONE and a tip of my cap to you. Yes Jessica Richardson, I'm talking to you.

The jig is up Mr. Fallon, Mr. Vick and Ms. Hall. The TRUTH has now come out, the reports are in and it's ever so clear that the Ann Arbor News editorial of yesterday, 7/8/07 must be heeded. As I have said for some time, you all need to be relieved of duties or you need to make it less painful and resign. ALL of you have failed in your appointed tasks miserably. There are scads of proof on this now. You can no longer hide behind the old cliche "all the facts aren't in yet".

Keys, EMU campus police nor the administration has an answer

How COMPLETE is and was the failure of Eastern Michigan University in the Laura Dickinson murder? Sure they willfully broke the Clery Act, sure they put an entire community at risk but there is something far more disturbing.

Police KNEW her room keys were stolen. That's right, her keys, and full access to Hill Hall walked out the door with Orange Taylor III.

Were students notified? No.

Were students given new keys? No.

Were the locks changed? No.

Ah yes, a letter writing campign seems to be having some impact. All Eastern Michigan University regents have gotten a torrent of emails critical of your poor decision making in the Laura Dickinson murder and now yes, COVER UP. Just wanted to be sure the emails hit with maximum effect just before the private, independent Butzel-Long report on how EMU handled the situation came to light. What's that? It's HERE NOW?

Well, let's delve into this shall we? Let's take a look at some FINE reporting by Amelie Nash of the Ann Arbor News:

Abby Coykendall, an EMU professor who serves on a campus Security Advisory Committee, attended a meeting the week after Taylor's arrest. Hall spoke to the group about the investigation and lack of information, but Coykendall said public safety director's explanations didn't make sense.

Coykendall said Hall told the group she was in Dickinson's room the night her body was found. Dickinson was found naked from the waist down, positioned on the floor with a pillow over her head, and her keys were missing. Hall said the case was like a jigsaw puzzle, and the complete picture wasn't obvious until all the pieces fit together, Coykendall said.

"The answers were scripted and my feeling was that it was a test run of their official story for the public forums on campus,'' Coykendall said. "They did a good job to delay our understanding of what happened. It seemed liked they were working to make a false story a reality, and I think some in the university community wanted to be deceived and not believe what happened."

WORKING TO MAKE A FALSE STORY A REALITY. Nice, well done John, Jim, Cindy, way to help this along.

Also from the Butzel-Long independent report:

Within a week of the arrest, EMU's public relations employees also posted information on the university Web site, including a "question and answer'' segment and timeline. But within days, portions - including an assertion that EMU did not identify a suspect prior to Feb. 23 - were deleted after a state police investigator sent an e-mail disputing the accuracy of those statements.

"Starting on February 23rd, many of the key players involved in the dissemination of information concerning Laura Dickinson's death went into 'damage control mode' and began developing explanations or justifications for not providing accurate information about the possibility of a homicide," the report said.

AMAZING Mr Fallon, you and Mr Vick and Ms. Hall need to go YESTERDAY. You have OBVIOUSLY and WILLFULLY broken the law, the independent law firm openly says so. All three of you have assisted in or participated in BREAKING A FEDERAL LAW, the Clery Act. This is BEYOND the pale. Fallon and Vick and Hall need to be REMOVED if they will not resign. Cindy Hall MUST NOW held to account, she performed as poorly as, if not worse than Vick and Fallon. This report shows her to be in WAY over her head at every turn.

Recently, the Wichita Police Department decided to honor themselves with commemorative coins for their dilligence. 30 plus years worth in fact, in capturing Dennis Rader, the BTK serial killer. They spent between five and six thousand dollars of TAXPAYER monies to reward some 1200 people who helped catch Rader. Of course it helped that the serial killer drew a map to his house practically but why should THAT fact stop the Wichita PD from showering themselves in glory much like the now infamous 'Saturday Morning Awards Ceremony' on February 26, 2004 with emcee Police Chief Norman Williams.

I mean you bungled the case for 30 years, why stop at coins? You should ALL receive homes plated in GOLD so EVERYONE in Sedgwick County knows YOU were involved. Maybe gold inlayed swimming pools would be a proper use of taxpayer money. You could make a tiled gold bottom outlining the WPD logo. Maybe jeweled roofing for your homes would show residents of Wichita YOU were involved.

Oh, I'm sorry, did you suffer an awful lot trying to catch him? Did your lives change drastically while hunting him? Then get a few thousand more coins made for the residents who had to run inside and check their phone lines each night, the residents who would stay up all night with guns and freaking out at any little noise or disturbance.

Where does this end? When do you STOP honoring yourselves for what MANY people consider to be SHODDY police work?

Walking down from her apartment up across the Huron River off Green Road and somehow wound up in Peninsular Park where she was killed. My guess is that since she was stabbed (well there's more to that but I'll spare you the details until it comes out in open court) she was led into the park at knifepoint by her killer, a piece of human shit named Jimmy Eric Green (and Jimmy's parents should be SO PROUD of what they raised), was identified by DNA. They had to look no further than the State Prison in Jackson, MI to find him. He was serving a life sentence for rape and assault.

If anyone knows this case in Ypsilanti it's normally because they have heard the legend of Laura's ghost roaming up by the Hill dorms (ironically enough where Laura Dickinson was recently murdered) during the fall. Hopefully the closure in this case will allow Laura's memory to be that of a kind soul who was also an Air Force vet.

Maybe even perhaps it will release her ghost (which I believe was and is there due to an eyewitness account of a former EMU police officer named 'Joe' who worked there in the late 80's) from it's tortured existence. Who is to say but we do know, the book on one of the most intriguing cases in Ypsilanti's history can now be closed.

Perhaps credit in an Eastern Michigan course is possible if you can properly follow along with what Director of Campus Police Cindy Hall told the EMU student paper, The Eastern Echo:

"I would not jeopardize the safety of students, faculty or anyone around campus by withholding information," Hall said. "Any information was withheld to protect the integrity of the case."

OK, class so let's break that thinking down.

"I would not jeopardize the safety of students, faculty or anyone around campus by withholding information"

OK, but Cindy, you DID withhold information. How dare you tell someone to their face you wouldn't withhold information AFTER having withheld information.

OK, Cindy, but you just got done saying you WOULDN'T withhold info. It is HERE (and unlike John Fallon, EMU President I UNDERSTAND Cindy's thinking here) you make a CHOICE, public safety through awareness vs. the old bogeyman, 'intergrity of the case'. You are in charge of Campus Police which, most likely mean you could give two shits what ANY of us think about this. You have to do what's right by EMU police. John Fallon however DOES NOT fall under these auspices. He DOES NOT work for Campus Police.

Now Cindy, while your comments are maddening and border on doublespeak, you did what you felt you needed to do. You have a long reputation of the EMU police to uphold going back to the John Norman Collins cases in Ypsilanti that the EMU Campus Police BUTCHERED alongside the Ann Arbor PD. So you just be happy I'm not giving you the Fallon treatment. Next time, simply decline interviews Cindy, or have a professional spokesperson handle media requests, lest you come off as not too sure of yourself.

Orange Taylor III, 20, of Southfield, was ordered Friday to stand trial in Dickinson's death. The body of the 22-year-old Hastings resident was found in her dorm room Dec. 15, and autopsy results released in March concluded she died of asphyxiation.

The U.S. Department of Education next week will begin investigating whether the university, which maintained that foul play was not suspected until Taylor was arrested Feb. 23, violated a federal law in not warning students that a violent crime had been committed.

Fallon as early as Jan. 23 wrote: "This doesn't smell right to me."

"I was never fully satisfied that the investigation into Laura's death took so long. ... While being patient was clearly the responsible course for me, I'm not certain that the university shouldn't have been more candid," Fallon wrote in a Feb. 28 e-mail to Tom Sidlik, chairman of the university's Board of Regents.

I agree, you had the chain of command that knew the facts. All you had to do was ASK. You didn't. You made a choice NOT to. You let down tens of thousands of people.

You need to move on professionally to a place that finds your idea of adminstration acceptable. I'll speak on behalf of the EMU Community when I say we DO NOT find your actions acceptable.

I was sitting down to write a post asking IF Laura Dickinson's room keys were stolen after her rape and murder as the word on the street says they were. My point was going to be to ask if they had indeed changed ALL the locks in Hill Hall to protect OTHER students while EMU President Fallon decided to let Orange Taylor III run around campus as a STILL enrolled student without warning anyone in harm's way.

That question was answered a very few minutes ago and this entire sad story JUST GOT WORSE.

Police reports released this week to The Ann Arbor News under the Freedom of Information Act reveal that EMU officers had contact with Taylor at least twice in less than a year concerning three incidents. The calls included the break-in at King Hall, a damaged table in the Pray-Harrold classroom building and a report of a student selling marijuana in the Eastern Eateries.

Taylor, 20, is jailed without bond awaiting a preliminary hearing on charges in the December death of 22-year-old Laura Dickinson. He is accused of breaking into her room, raping and killing her, then stealing keys and women's underwear.

NICE eh?

You then lie further in defense of your poor decision making in saying the suspect was under full time full on surveillance.

Horseshit. Unless you have an ankle tether or other tracking device ON the suspect, he's most certainly NOT under 100% surveillance. Especially when he's on and around campus.

The last EMU President was an absolute failure as a steward of the University's money and goodwill. Most people in and around Ypsilanti and in the greater EMU community couldn't wait for him to leave. I was one of them. OK, readers, first a little background on why John Fallon MUST resign (and a mea culpa, I attended said school and am initmately familiar with it).

On December 13, 2006, Janice Dickinson a student at EMU was found dead in her dorm room. She lived in a huge complex of dormitories referred to as the Hill dorms, all ten stories in height. Ms. Dickinson lived in the aptly named Hill Hall. The first reports in an interview in the Ann Arbor News via the Medical Examiner of Washtenaw County SUSPECTED foul play. EMU went batshit and told anybody who would listen it was NOT NOW nor was it ever supected of being a murder. Students recently went on record as saying certain dorm authority figures hinted in fact it was a suicide. Jaclyn Armstrong, an EMU student who also lived in Hill Hall asked President Fallon "Couldn't we have at least been told we were in danger?'' Armstrong recalled being told the death seemed like a suicide. "To be told there was no danger to us - that was a direct lie''. In fact the university ITSELF said this:

The cause of death was undetermined but foul play was not suspected.

Imagine everyone's surprise (and your own if you lived in the dorms at EMU or have a child going there) when EMU announced February 23 that another EMU student had been arrested for Ms. Dickinson's MURDER. That's right, and they knew it all from the beginning.

An EMU student was free to walk around campus among other students under suspicion of being a cold blooded RAPIST and MURDERER. Wow, will they put that in the brochure for prospective students?

We value your safety here but ONLY to a point

Orange Amir Taylor III was a suspect almost IMMEDIATELY as he was seen entering the dorm at about 4am that morning and then he was on camera again leaving the dorm around 6am, the period in which the autopsy said Ms. Dickinson died. They knew it IMMEDIATELY and did NOTHING to warn the general campus population.

According to Eastern Michigan University THIS does not hint at foul play:

When police entered Dickinson's room, they found her lying on a blanket on the floor - naked from the waist down and with a pillow over her face, the transcript said. EMU Lt. Jeff Nesmith noted there was evidence of sexual assault, including the way her body was positioned.

Mr. Fallon, you might be able to understand the incredible indignity SOME in the EMU community might just have. You'll recall that former Theta Chi President John Norman Collins was an EMU student as were some of his victims. The death of Laura McBride remains unsolved to this day.

All that President Fallon can muster is a deflection of ANY KIND of accountability and hoping to pass this all off. Fallon said EMU will conduct on how it handled the release of information in the wake of Dickinson's death.

How the hell do you sleep at night Mr. Fallon? How do you put some thousands of student in HARM'S WAY and then try to whitewash this?

Your RESIGNATION, please. You are clearly unfit and unable to do the job a University President is expected to do.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - January 16, 2007 - - Inside a burned-out restaurant near the beaches of South Florida, detectives in 1982 found a scruffy drifter wearing a tattered shirt and jeans.

The abandoned restaurant was his home. Hanging from the ceiling were three dolls, their feet bound with string. A nail had been driven into the head of one.

The drifter, it turned out, was Robert Bowman, who was suspected of killing 14-year-old Eileen Adams in 1967. Her body, discovered just outside Toledo, was mutilated in a fashion eerily similar to the way the dolls were battered.

The detectives, though, didn't have enough evidence to charge Bowman. And he was let go.

But a chance meeting in September between a police officer and Eileen's father has reinvigorated an investigation that twice ran cold, and put Bowman back on police radar screens. Even though Bowman's whereabouts are unknown, detectives charged him in November with aggravated murder, saying DNA samples linked him to Eileen's killing.

"The more you get into this, the more bizarre it becomes," said police Detective Bart Beavers.

Bowman, who now would be 70, was last known to be living in southern California about three years ago. Before that he had lived in Florida. Authorities hope someone knows where he is now.

No one knows exactly what happened to Eileen the day she disappeared. She was last seen riding a city bus to her sister's house after school a week before Christmas 1967. Police think she was abducted during her route.

Six weeks later her body was found near Monroe, Mich., about five miles north of the state line. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled. She had been tied up with telephone and drapery cords. A nail had been driven into her head.

Much of the tale comes from decades-old police records. Original investigators have retired. Bowman's ex-wife, whose name isn't being released, and their daughter wouldn't talk about the case. Adams' family also has not commented.

The trail to the restaurant began after Bowman's ex-wife contacted police in 1981 at the insistence of her new boyfriend.

She told them that in 1967 she and Bowman had just moved into a new house. She began hearing noises coming from the basement but dismissed the strange sounds until she was hanging up clothes there and heard moaning in the adjacent fruit cellar.

She opened the door and found Eileen tied to a wall. She ran upstairs, where she said Bowman confronted her. He told his wife he now had to kill the girl and threatened to kill her as well if she told anyone about what she saw, Beavers said.

"She was scared to death," the detective said.

Police put her under hypnosis and gave her a lie detector test. Her story stayed consistent. They went looking for Bowman, who had owned a construction company before leaving Toledo for Scottsdale, Ariz., and Las Vegas.

He eventually settled in the Miami area, where he owned a business, Brenda Manufacturing Co., that made high-end purses in North Miami. The company, named after his daughter, sold its handbags in Nieman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

But when detectives tracked him down in 1982, Bowman had a scruffy beard and was living in the restaurant.

Bowman would say only that Eileen had been in his home, according to a police report. He said he didn't remember what happened and told police it was up to them to prove that he killed the girl.

"It became clear he wasn't going to confess," Beavers said.

Prosecutors back in Toledo decided there wasn't enough evidence to bring charges, and the case again went cold until Mike McGee, a Toledo police officer, was invited to Sunday dinner with his in-laws. Residents from a nursing home also attended.

Among them was Eileen Adams' father, Larry, who sat next to McGee.

"I've got a case I'd like you to look at," the father said.

Larry Adams, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, began telling the story of what happened to his daughter. Some of the details were vivid and others were faded, McGee said.

Although McGee says he thought Adams must have seen the case on TV, "I could tell by looking at this guy's face that he believed what he was telling me. He made me promise that I'd look into it."

McGee talked to the department's cold-case squad, which looked through the old files and found that Bowman had been a suspect decades ago.

Detectives collected DNA samples from Bowman's ex-wife and their daughter, both now in Florida, and compared those samples with DNA found on Eileen Adams 39 years ago. Investigators identified DNA on the victim as Bowman's based on a match with a DNA sample from his daughter, Beavers said.

Once AGAIN, we have to say John Norman Collins didn't do THAT ONE either

This is getting weird people. Two murders long attributed to John Norman Collins now have to be pinned upon OTHER killers with DNA getting big ups in solving both. As some may recall one Gary Leiterman was convicted in 2005 for the murder of Jane Mixer in 1969. A drop of blood found on Ms. Mixer's panty hose came back as a match through a DNA database that Mr. Leiterman entered THREE DAYS after it became law for convicted felons to give DNA samples upon conviction in Michigan. Those close to the investigation debated whether Ms. Mixer was indeed one of Collins's victims as some of the usual similarities in the other Collins crime scenes didn't quite match up.

Now, Eileen Adams, kidnapped from her Sylvania Twp. home (Toldeo, Ohio and 35 miles south of Collins's home in Ypsilanti) in 1967 has, by DNA, been matched to a Robert Baxter Bowman, who lived in Ms. Adams neighborhood. On November 28 the Toledo Blade ran a story with the following information:

"A reverse paternity test and DNA found in the underwear of a Sylvania Township teenager murdered about 39 years ago led Toledo police to file an arrest warrant yesterday in the case.

Robert Baxter Bowman, 70, was charged yesterday with aggravated murder in the 1967 disappearance of 14-year-old Eileen Adams. Police said it may be the state’s oldest unsolved homicide that resulted in charges through DNA technology.

Mr. Bowman, who is not in custody, is accused of kidnapping, raping, and murdering the teen. He formerly resided in Florida, but police think he may now be among the homeless in the Riverside or San Diego areas of California.

Mr. Bowman’s marriage ended in divorce. His wife apparently knew the teen was in the basement and came forward with a statement in 1981 that he was involved in the slaying. She told police that she had waited to come forward because she was afraid. Without her, Detective Beavers said, police would not have identified him as a suspect.

Investigators went to Mr. Bowman’s house, but the basement and other areas had been remodeled. At the time, Detective Beavers said police found nothing of evidentiary value and talked with Mr. Bowman, but authorities didn’t have enough to arrest him."

She opened the door to the room and saw this poor girl hanging there. Suffering but not dead. The girlfriend/wife goes to leave (presumably to call the police) and is greeted by Baxter Bowman who says that now they have to kill the girl and if she doesn't help him, Baxter Bowman will kill their newborn daughter. The girlfriend/wife complies and they dump the poor little girl's body off the side of the road in southern Michigan.

The 13 abc story in 1989 said that the girlfriend/wife spontaneously went to the Toledo Police in 1980 or 1981 and came clean telling the whole story of finding the girl and helping to dispose of the body. The police questioned Baxter Bowman who did not deny nor admit the murder but acknowledged that this poor little girl had been in his house. Apparently, there was no physical evidence to link him to the murder (pre-DNA technology I guess - 1981) so they were unable to detain him. The 1989 story said that police found Baxter Bowman in Florida living in an abandoned restaurant with rats and snakes that he had trained to respond to his commands. He also had a small doll haning in one of the windows that was bound in the same way that the little girl's body had been bound and also had a nail or a needle going through the head too.

Tonight's 13 abc story said that the family of Eileen Adams had recently called cold case detectives and asked them to re-open the case which lead to DNA testing of some semen found on the poor little girl."

Well, no not really but I needed a clever headline for this post.

So we have a SECOND suspect in custody in Ipswich. I'm not trying to brag, really I'm just humble me, *ahem* but did you notice my guess of Pine Brook where the guy would be found and the London Road near Ipswich where he WAS caught? Always a good idea to work demographics, and economics into your profile I think....In this case I used access to the dump sites off of the A-14, demographics, easy in and out to the red light district, economic indicators gleaned from thorough Google searches and yes, lady luck.

Not much is known about the new suspect, one Stephen Wright (hopefully not the comedian), aged 48 (if he's the killer of the women and he may well be I'd be way off on age). I have no real idea what to make of media seeker suspect Tom Stephens. His My Space page was a real treat to get to know. What a wack job. You'll sometimes find those involved in crimes trying to interject themselves in some SMALL way but this guy almost demanded the BBC do a full on interview with him.

*Has visited the working girls of Ipswich before.

*Is not a threatening presence, quite meek perhaps.

*Killed them elsewhere. Drove them to dumpsite.

*Knows the area, hence the first two dump sites, now is dumping more quickly as his fear of getting caught increases.

*I think he’ll be caught sooner rather than later. Why? Cameras EVERYWHERE in England. They’ll be checking all cameras in and out of the area vs. times the women were last seen vs camera for exit and entrance ramps around dumping sites.

More info is being made available in that they think this killer may have killed before this recent spree and POSSIBLY as early as 1992 when Natalie Portman (No, of course NOT that Natalie Portman) was found strangled. Three others fit the bill if you will. Mandy Duncan, 26, of Woodbridge, Suffolk, vanished in 1993, Kellie Pratt in 2000 and Michelle Bettles in 2002.

A psychologist quoted in the story said something of note with which I totally agree with and was thinking last night; Once the prostitutes are gone from the streets at night, he'll HAVE to find a replacement. My guess? Younger girls. School girls.

Well, OK, not London so much as Ipswich. Looks like we have got ourselves a very itchy twitchy serial killer running about. As I emailed a friend in the UK "looks like you've got a spot of Serial Killer bother" in my best Brit writing voice if you will.

What can WE do? Most likely not much. We CAN however learn from this one. A killer in a month and a half who has killed 5 prostitutes working in Ipswich and dumping the bodies in nearby areas.

Would anyone like to do some possible profiling? We can all make up profiles, do the research and see what we come up with. I have one I'm working on but let's get the info out to you.

5 women, no rhyme nor reason to their height and weight or the color of their hair. One was barely 5 feet and another was 5' 9".

All who kept in contact with families at home.

All bodies dumped in wooded or river areas, the last three close to one another.

The third one really seemed to upset police.

All found nude.

All strangled.

None sexually abused.

They were people just like you and me. They had names. They were Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell, Annette Nicholls, Gemma Adams, and Tania Nicol.

...I thought I'd share a theory of mine about Elizabeth Short's killer. I think he was a serial killer hunted by the famous Eliot Ness the decade before in Cleveland known as the Kingsbury Run killer. I think after killing about a dozen people in Cleveland in the same way he killed Ms. Short, he went west and killed in Los Angeles. There are two OTHER victims related to Elizabeth Short about that same time in LA, one who looks almost EXACTLY like Ms. Short.

The carcasses of two more dogs, including a puppy whose legs and neck were bound with twine, were found Sunday in Superior Township, prompting the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department to assign a detective to the case.

Seven dogs have been found dead in the past week and a half in the same vicinity. The two dogs found Sunday - a pit bull puppy and a cocker spaniel that was shot in the back of the head - were not decapitated as earlier ones had been.

It is not clear how the puppy died, but it had twine wrapped around its neck and feet, Tanya Hilgendorf, executive director of the Human Society of Huron Valley, said this morning. She said the two dogs had been dead for some time.

The dogs were found a few feet away from one another near LeForge and Geddes roads, near where another Rottweiler was found Saturday.

The Humane Society has had an animal cruelty investigator working the case full time, and the Sheriff's Department was expected to assign an investigator today at the request of Superior Township Supervisor William McFarlane.

"We're going to provide them with some additional investigative expertise,'' said Sheriff's Cmdr. Dave Egeler.

"What concerns most of us is they are going after people's dogs. What's next? Humans?'' asked Terry Morgan, who lives near the area where the dead animals have been found.

McFarlane said he and many other area residents are concerned about the case.

"It appears some of it is certainly related to trapping,'' he said. "But I'm not sure it's all related to trapping. ... Hopefully, (an additional investigator) will bring an end to it and bring this person to justice.''

Dozens of animals have been found dead in the area since January. Humane Society officials were first called when skinned coyote carcasses were discovered along the road and in trash bins in Superior Township. Three similar reports followed, and in mid-March, the decapitated body of a Rottweiler was found, its feet bound.

But, in 1986 the Wichita police DID just this by sending BTK classified advertisements in the Wichita Eagle JUST before Vickie Wegerle was murdered. From the Wichita Eagle itself:

"Friday, an Eagle staff member searching back issues of the newspaper spotted an ad that ran for several days in late August and early September 1986, a little more than a week before BTK is believed to have killed Vicki Wegerle. Nestled among come-ons for ESP readings and exotic dancers under the Special Interests category, it said: "Relief from Factor X is available at: P.O. Box 48265.""

So if you fear he'd reoffend why leak SELECTIVE things from his 2004 communications? It blew up in your face once (oh yeah yeah, they didn't ever think Vickie Wegerle could be a BTK murder---amazing) so why leak ANYTHING?

A Kansas family of four is brutally murdered and neighbors see or hear nothing that can be of assistance to police. A father, mother, a son and daughter are slain inside their home. They are tied with intricate knots, one is tied to a water pipe in the basement while two others are tied up on beds. Before leaving, a killer takes a radio with him and drives away.

January 15th, 1974? Nope. The Oteros? Nope. Dennis Rader? Nope

Why I think there is more evidence buried out there

People email me from time to time and ask me why I think Dennis Rader destroyed or hid or buried evidence and not everything the Wichita police have is ALL of his 'motherlode'....

Here is some of why I think this to be the case.

As you'll recall, Denny had an extreme close call one night with a guy getting into PART of his shed:

"In November, Bennett was trying to get away from Park City Police. He went into Rader's shed to hide but was found by Rader himself. Porter says Rader asked Bennett if he knew who he was. He says Rader told him to get down on the ground and then started kicking and punching him. Porter says Rader put a gun to his brother's head and threatened to kill him. He says Bennett was scared and did as he was told without question, never suspecting he was with an alleged serial killer. Rader called police and authorities took Bennett away...Bennett's family says there is much more to this story. They're now waiting to talk to an attorney before they'll say anything else about the incident at the shed."

WOW close call out of nowhere huh? I think so too. At this point, as meticulous as he was, Dennis Rader HAD to start thinking about jettisoning some of his 'murderbelia'. He spoke of it himself. He told WPD that he was planning on scanning original documents and keeping things digitally and destroying originals and copies of letter, notes etc.

From his own statement in court:

"The Dolores Davis graves, they put back and
forth. If anybody knows anything about geology,
structure, those trees and stuff were not at
Lake Cheney. They were over in the eastern part
of the United States. And those pictures that
came in the mail were not -- were not the other
ones, they were all from the grave site at Cheney."

So IS he saying he's committed some kind of malfeasance out east? Again, Mr. Meticulous is saying the police messed up HIS evidence. He'd surely know as proud of it as he was.

Police went on a digging expedition immediately after Rader's arrest. Backhoes and all kinds of implememnts were used for some subterranean searching. Did they find anything? Since they're not saying, and we know how much they like to congratulate themselves, I'll guess NO. It does leave the question about WHAT they were looking for.

Census confirms Rader worked for it in 1989

...Rader worked for the census from March through July 1989. His job titles at that time were field operations supervisor and enumerator. Supervisors coordinate enumerators, who in 1989 would have been driving from house to house, compiling addresses, Palacios said.

After census forms are filled out, enumerators are the people who knock on the doors of people who haven't returned their census forms. But enumerators wouldn't have been doing that until the spring of 1990 at the earliest, Palacios said.

The U.S. Census Bureau has no record of Rader working for the census in 1990, when workers went door-to-door....

Dennis Rader worked as a census supervisor for three months in 1989. More than likely I'm guessing he was the only census supervisor with a 'hit kit' with him.

Which three months, where (which counties did he work) and then let's start dusting off missing persons and cold cases for the three months he worked the census and let's even think for the next FOUR months in case he went back for a PJ (we know he was patient and HATED unfinished business).

Six months in 1989, he was STILL active, he was unsupervised and trolling. One victim wasn't home.

Interesting factoid about the BTK case and profiler Pat Brown

By the way, Pat Brown's BTK profile was laughable. Maybe, like Patricia Cornwell and her Jack the Ripper candidate they zeroed in on one suspect and made the evidence fit their pre-determnined view. Not so good for a profiler to be stalking suspects methinks. Tunnel vision thy name is Pat Brown

"Profilers don't help their own cause much, either, at least not with the "amateur internet cybersleuths," and we are legion. An example is Pat Brown, a Minnesota-based profiler who manages to accrue a remarkable amount of face-time every time a major serial case hits the news. When the alleged BTK Strangler, Dennis Rader [Google search], was arrested in late February 2005, Brown seemed to defy time and space, showing up to do commentary for nearly every special break-in about the arrest. No one bothered to note that Brown's profile of BTK, while on-the-mark in some general and a few specific ways (something that could also be said about my own completely off-the cuff profile of this killer), was based on one particular person she'd zeroed in on a while back - and unfortunately for her, not Dennis Rader, but an ex-employee of the Wichita Eagle who many suspected was guilty of his wife's murder while on a camping trip about 10 years ago.

Profiler Brent Turvey, who at one time was Pat Brown's teacher, said the following about the peripatetic profiling pundit:

Pat Brown (...)approached me years ago, after taking several courses, to get my assistance in naming a person that she was essentially stalking as a serial murderer. No evidence. No proof. Just her firm belief that she knew better than anyone else. I of course refused, told her to stop stalking the guy lest she find herself arrested, and this did not make her happy at all. Ignoring admonishments regarding this and other terribly unprofessional conduct, she continues to go her own way in her corner of the profiling community...
Here Turvey gave a good example too of why profiling is being viewed with more skepticism; it is so thoroughly open to the obsessions and attitudes of the profiler. By the way, I've always wondered if Turvey was referring to the hapless ex-Eagle employee, as I knew, from various internet communications I received, the man's name and current disposition. Brown was good about that at least - she kept the poor guy's name off-line and out of her public dialogue. Still, if he was the guy she was "stalking," that must have been rough enough."

1) All cooincidental
2) Copycat killer

In a city the size of Wichita the murder rate with this many cooincidental murders would put them in the Baghdad category. NOT LIKELY.

A copycat would send letters on this if indeed they were a COPYCAT, right? Those letters to KAKE are where?

WPD put out pictures of a couple pieces of jewelery that didn't fit the 'canoniacal' BTK killings. They couldn't match them up. WHO do those belong to? Someone who was unfortunate enough to come across Rader when he was in the hinterlands doing Census work? I have head an read a lot of BTK stories

In talking with everyone over the past while, I have struck up many online friendships. I was lucky enough to begin talking with this woman who asked to remain anonymous (I will respect that request). We'll call her Ms. Smith. She has been telling me for a while about HER story, her experiences in Wichita during the mid 80's and yes, she DOES have a CHILLING story to tell. I have personally vetted her account as well as I can. I truly think she was a PROJECT, I do know she's NOT lying. She does NOT seek attention nor fame. She merely wants to tell her story. Here it is in her own words...For those of you who don't know what it was to live in Wichita back then, this is as close a representation in the first person as you'll get. The next words you read will be those of Ms. Smith:

..It was the summer of 1986.
My daughter was barely 9 months old. Being a single parent I was overwhelmed with loneliness and decided to quit my job and pack all our belongings and head back to the dear old homestead in Wichita. It was very important that my daughter know her family…her grandma, and grandpa and all her aunts and also her cousins.
No sooner had I arrived when my older sister and her husband and their little girl had to pack their things and move out of state. I was devastated. I was so close to my sister and she was the reason I had decided to move back. I was, needless to say, shocked and very sad. But I sucked it up, and right away found a fabulous job with quite the prestigious corporation in Wichita.
Another sister and her husband were so generous and had a small house they were willing to rent to me and my daughter…just west of Hydraulic. It was quite wonderful to find housing so soon…especially when the movers were not supposed to arrive with my things for another week and called me that day and announced their arrival. AND it was a perfect little house for us…two bedrooms a fenced back yard – great neighbors…Our new life!
So, we quickly settled in…I found a decent sitter and off to work I went…anxiously fearful of whether or not this move was the right decision. It didn’t take long to realize that finances were slim between rent, utilities bills and daycare. So I moved. Just up the street…to a red brick duplex…to the tune of $150.00 less a month for rent. Downsizing to a one bedroom. Oh well.
My daughter and I had the greatest neighbors. So very friendly and kind and considerate. We were all low income ( well poor actually), but the kindest human beings…hearts of gold. They watched over my little girl and I. I guess we all shared kind of a common bond…hard workers, lovers of life…everyone of my neighbors loved my little girl. We all watched out for each other – that’s just how the people of Wichita were (are) – a VERY caring community. It was the type of neighbor hood everyone was always doing something nice for each other. Little presents just for fun…cookies…home grown tomatoes…always always watching out for each other.
THEN, once again - I found yet another home for us. Always looking for a better deal…a little less money a month…I was so happy back then…even though things were, well, it was just really hard to make ends meet.
Anyways, I found another little duplex in Riverside (which is an area I had ALWAYS wanted to live in) and this place was $75.00 cheaper a month than what I was paying now…SO – Once again, I packed up all our stuff – making several several trips back and forth after work and on the weekends. I was so tired when I FINALLY knew I was making the last trip to the old place and my daughter and I could just finally relax that night and have fun, maybe watch a movie – instead of hauling and unpacking. I pulled in the driveway – it was winter and it had snowed the night before. My neighbor came running over. She was so upset. She was visiably shaken. She asked – “Honey are you going to stay here tonight or all you all done?” – I replied…no “I’m all finished, I just need to clean a little and get my vacuum cleaner..” --she was so upset – I asked her what? “Whats the matter?” – She said – “Come here, I want to show you something”.
In Wichita, most of the backyards are really long and they have alley’s running in between the backyards of the houses of the streets. My duplex was on a street that had an alley way. She walked me around the south side of my duplex..she said “wait – Look! Don’t step there – see! – “and she was pointing to tracks in the snow – big footprints – (a man’s more than likely.) I looked – and there in the snow were perfect prints – walking up to my living room and dining room windows – I mean RIGHT UP to the windows. We walked farther into the back yard and I could follow the prints…they started way back in the yard at the alley way – you could even see where the “person” had parked and jumped the fence and walked up under my daughters swingset then up to my bathroom window then over to my back door then to the dining room window beside the back door then around the side of the apt to the living room windows. My bathroom window was rectangular and high up and a cinder block had been placed underneath it so the “person” could stand on the block to see into the window. Then we both noticed my telephone line had been cut. THAT is when – well – lets just say the fear was so overwhelming that I couldn’t even cry. Tears don’t come when you are that afraid. You can barely even breathe. When you try to talk – you talk in jagged sentences.
I left that place and never looked back. I worried about my neighbor often.
THAT was how Wichita was back then – EVERYONE watching out for each other…EVERYONE.

I started thinking about all the times when I lived in that duplex that I would think I saw something at the window…you know – one of those “out of the corner of your eye thing” – at the time I always blew it off. Thought maybe I was just seeing my own reflection.
Well I realized – the hell I was.
NOW I REALLY REALIZE SO MUCH MORE
Maybe.

Riverside.
Riverside was quiet. Until the night I heard someone trying to get in my back door. I put my daughter in a closet and covered her with blankets shoes, dresses …I was panicked.
I crawled on my stomach to get to my phone. I called 911.
My phone line went dead.
I was screaming inside….over and over and over. My baby….
My baby…I crawled to the kitchen…if someone got in I didn’t want them to discover her…
I realize now whoever it was probably already knew about her….but you just don’t think right when you are scared for your life.
My little girl was whimpering.
I had no weapon.
I prayed.
The police came.
I was too frightened to open the door. I didn’t believe them.
They looked around.
Found the cut line.
Told me to move.
They told me to move and said good-bye.
I became a blithering terrified idiot.
I moved us again.
To a house right off 13th.
About six blocks from Vicky Wegerles.
In fact – right around the corner.
Not far at all.
Then Vicky was murdered.
But no one knew it was BTK – the filth of Wichita.
But I moved anyway.
Again.
Out of State.
And I haven’t looked back.

….Was it him? OR was I just another Wichita female resident living with the terror of a monster among us.
Was #83707 trolling and saw ME?
Did it graduate from trolling to stalking and he knew everywhere I moved trying to ditch him?
DID it just NOT HAPPEN for #83707 that night?
DID I even realize at the time that that was what I was doing?
I can’t even remember if BTK entered my mind by then - it was 20 years ago almost. I just didn’t connect the dots. I really never thought about it all till every thing came out at his sentencing.
Then the cold chill hit me.
Was he stalking me and discovered poor Vicky?
How many other women had these experiences and just never told anyone.
How many other women have secrets and close calls like this.
Was it just me.
Was it chance.
Was it coincidence?
Was it my imagination?
Was it some other perverted soul?

Also as we all know from the sentencing, Vicki Wegerle fought DR tooth and nail and scraped/scratched DR very badly and YET police suspected the CRIME VICTIM Bill Wegerle for almost 20 years. I DO NOT care about lie detectors, what I WOULD have cared about is if Bill had a chunk of face missing and if not then who's DNA was it under Vicki's fingernails? Bloody skin scratches that don't match anything on Bill and yet HE becomes a suspect?

Well NOW Karen is a guard at the El Dorado Correctional Facility where oddly enough, Dennis Rader will stay until he dies. Now the law prevents Karen from discussing Rader's stay there and if we can collect enough money and get her a nice cattle prod it can be "Whatever happens in maximum lockup STAYS in maximum lockup". Use it as you will Karen, we don't need to know....

Detective Randy Stone, whose computer sleuthing provided a turning point in the hunt for BTK, will be given an award for "forensics investigation case of the year" by the International High Technology Crime Investigation Association next week at its conference in Monterey, Calif.
Within hours of receiving a computer disk from the serial killer in February, Stone was able to determine that the disk had been used at Christ Lutheran Church, 5356 N. Hillside. Dennis Rader was president of the church council and used the computer at least once to print out a meeting agenda.

OK, I'm GLAD Randy was able to figure this out but in the world that is computer science you learn how to do this on the third day of class. After they got the name from the disk they used Google to track Dennis the Menace. Maybe Google should get a Nola Foulston Saturday morning Awards show trophy too.

The REAL amazing thing in all this is Dennis Rader never learned computer disks were traceable. Maybe serial killers from the old days needn't involve themselves with technology. Maybe they should try learning these things rather than having auto asphyxiation sessions in their camper trailer at boy scout outings. OR, maybe, just watch a couple episodes of CSI....

Story problem--you have 31 years to solve it

I'll give you a list of, mmmm, let's say 10,000 names from Wichita State University, 1,000 names from Coleman and another 1,000 from the military of those living in and around Wichita. Trust me, the military KNOWS where their former employees live.
So here's the story problem, can you cross reference the list, looking for WHITE, MALE in the 21-40 age range and cross reference it down to a 'swabbable' say 500 men? You have 30 years, could you do it? Yes we have DNA to compare it against. Put speical flags next to those who will not give DNA tests.

The Wichita Police Department couldn't do it. Dennis Rader would have appeared on ALL three of the lists above.

Incompetence like this deserves one big Saturday Morning Awards show. Oh, wait, they already HAD that.

Think about it people, you HAVE DNA. You KNOW the copies came from WSU, you have a suspicion Coleman's is somehow linked since three of the first attack victims worked there. START cross referencing.

What did Paula Rader know and when did she know it?

It seems the wife of convicted serial killer and general narcissist Dennis Rader had, at least on two occasions reason to wonder about her husbands REAL identity. There were other, more subtle clues as well. Add them up if you're 'so inclined' and you tell me....

In 1977 she found a rough draft of a poem written about victim Shirley Vian (Relford), later to become the 'Shirleylocks' poem sent to Wichita police as a taunt. It disturbed her. She felt ill at ease enough over it to question her husband who told her it was for a school assignment at Wichita State University where he, Dennis Rader was a student. What class would be asking for a poem about a murder victim I wonder? SERIOUSLY people, what class would give a writing assignment to write a disturbing poem about a serial killers victim? Haiku for the Criminal Mind 101? So Paula let it slide. Did she think to ask again when she found out SHIRLEY was a victim? Guess not. Another question, did she see it BEFORE Shirley was killed? If so, my god what a smoking gun. "Honey, um, yeah, that Shirleylocks poem, um, well you wrote it for class before she even died. Either you have ESP or ah, how do I say this, the police are on their way"

"You will find a homicide at 843, South Pershing, Nancy Fox". BTK called 911 dispatch to announce the muder of Nancy Fox after we now know Nancy squeezed his family jewels and seemed pretty non-plussed BTK was in her home telling Rader "Let's get this over so I can call police". This 911 call was played again and again on local Wichita TV. Um, Paula, didn't you recognize your husband's voice? Don't EVEN say she never heard the call played on TV. This was a case TERRORIZING Wichita, it consumed the town. It was all over the news.

Days before his arrest in February, she told him he spelled "just like BTK." NO Light went off in your head? You didn't connect the poem at this point? If not then consider these cooincidences:

Well publicized packages to police were left in cereal (serial-get it?) boxes, quite a few empty cereal boxes were found in the Rader kitchen after his arrest.

Neighbor Marine Hedge was murdered in 1985. Hmmm, broken window for entry, strangled, dark of night, phone line cut, missing car, missing ID---just like the others for the most part. BTK written all over it I don't care WHERE she was found. The disposal isn't the crime, the crime is the B & E and the strangulation, and the CRIME screamed BTK.

At one point she told her husband she was afraid of BTK. He told her to keep the doors locked even though at the time he sold/installed and supervised ADT alarm systems. Wouldn't an alarm system have been an improvement in family protection considering they now had two small kids? I mean an extremely suspicious MURDER just took place a couple doors down and locking the doors hadn't saved anyone we know of yet, BTK, as we all know, used a ruse to get in or BROKE WINDOWS.

Is she THAT slow as to NEVER EVER NEVER add any of these things up? Evidence hidden around a small home in hidey holes and closets was found. 3x5 cards, slick ads, womens clothing, jewelery that wasn't hers etc.

It's simple math and something isn't adding up. Could it be she knew and to spare her he just decided to plead guilty in HOPES she could salvage SOME of her life? To spare the kids that mom knew (or had a hunch) as well. I have no doubt she feared him being the controlling jerk he has proven to be...I fear we'll never know if any of this could have been stopped earlier.

I'm NOT saying she knew, I'm saying the clues were certainly there and she should have had a hunch that after Dennis was gone late nights someone else turned up dead in the community. I'm not talking about the nights he was camping with the Boy Scouts and left to murder someone, I'm talking about the HOURS he spent on the break-ins he did, the stalking, the 'projects', the sheer number of nights he was gone and somebody died. Hmmm, Dennis was gone all last Thursday night and that nice Fox girl died.

Paula, is there anything YOU would like to say to clear this up? If you kinda sorta knew yet feared you'd be murdered fine, I think a lot of people could accept that (not me but I digress), but tell us the truth. Tell your side of the story.

I was told by someone he visited my original site that called him out before he was caught. Good, but the only regret I have is that he can't see this site next week, when the pictures of him (that he was NONE TO HAPPY to see in court) go up here.

I fully plan on fucking with this waste of a human life every chance I get, I'm the Witch King, it's what I do. Every Christmas he'll get pictures of his old house (I mean inside shots while he actually lived there--furnished and everything with his shitty furniture, and YES I have some). Once a month he'll get other images he would have recognized and enjoyed around home. I'm gonna make him really wish he's kept his fool mouth shut. I wouldn't go as far as to send him something I'd LOVE to send as it involves an innocent member of society but just think of his face and his scared little thought process the day he received a poem called "Oh, Death to Kerri". Again, I'm the Witch King and revenge is my business...
